Course Summary

Over six modules we cover Level 2 Child Protection. This is a requirement for all clinical staff to have Level 2 and meets the requirements for inspectorates and the GDC.

You do not need to have achieved Level 1 to take Level 2 and this course is accessible to the whole dental team.

C. Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice

D. Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in you and the dental profession and put patients’ interests first

You should also have more confidence in recognising patients living with dementia and how to apply the MCA (mental capacity act)

Aims & Objectives

• Help you safeguard the adults in your care, spot signs of abuse and know how to report and to whom. Identify those living with dementia and be able to care for them in the best way for them. Apply the Mental Capacity Act when treating patients who lack capacity
• Verify what is mean by the term Adult at Risk, Information on the current guidance
• Signs and indicators of abuse, What to do if you have concerns, discuss the 5 principles of the MCA and when to appoint an IMCA, look specifically at Alzheimer’s disease.
