This is a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead course for Child safeguarding within the practice. You should already have completed the level 2 modules in order to get the best out of this course.

It will guide you through the expectations of being the safeguarding lead with regards to children, the reporting procedures and your responsibilities within the team. This includes, policies, procedures, training and reporting.

This course takes you through the Tier 1 mandatory training in Autism and Learning Disability Awareness Training also known as Oliver McGowan Training.

Split into 3 modules we will look at awareness in Learning Disability, Autism and Meeting the Needs.

Course Summary

Over six modules we cover Level 2 Child Protection. This is a requirement for all clinical staff to have Level 2 and meets the requirements for inspectorates and the GDC.

You do not need to have achieved Level 1 to take Level 2 and this course is accessible to the whole dental team.

Course Summary

The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) is designed to protect and empower people who may lack the mental capacity to make their own decisions about their care and treatment. It applies to people aged 16 and over.

The MCA has been in force since 2007 and applies to England and Wales. The primary purpose of the MCA is to promote and safeguard decision-making within a legal framework. 

This course is recommended for all members of the dental practice and is a collection of reading and video learning resources from the NHS and the Social Care Institute for Excellence. It is designed to help members of the practice be aware of Adult Safeguarding with regards to the MCA.
